Hearty Wheat Bread (not Bread Machine)

Total Time: 1 hr 40 mins Preparation Time: 1 hr Cook Time: 40 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 20
  • 2 1/2 cups warm water
  • 1 (1/4 ounce) package active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 1 cup vital wheat gluten
  • 2 cups stone ground whole wheat flour
  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup hulled sunflower seeds
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons salt
  • 1 -1 1/2 cup stone ground whole wheat flour

Recipe

  • 1 stir yeast and molasses into water.
  • 2 mix all dry ingredients except additional flour.
  • 3 combine dry mixture with yeast mixture knead in additioal flour to form elastic dough.
  • 4 place in greased bowl, turn greased side of dough up.
  • 5 let rise in warm place until double, 60-90 minute
  • 6 punch down dough and roll out on floured suface divide in half. roll into loaves and place in greased bread pans.
  • 7 let rise 45 min - 1 hour.
  • 8 bake 350f for 40-45 minute.
