Homemade Spaghetti

Total Time: 40 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 30 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 6
  • 1 (12 ounce) package pasta (whichever you like!)
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 1 green pepper, diced
  • 1 (14 ounce) can diced tomatoes
  • 1 (14 ounce) can stewed tomatoes
  • 1 (4 ounce) can tomato paste
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 chicken bouillon cubes
  • 1/8-1/4 cup brown sugar (1/4 c. makes for a sweeter sauce)
  • 1/2 tablespoon oregano
  • 1/2 tablespoon basil
  • 1/4 cup freshly chopped parsley
  • 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese

Recipe

  • 1 in a large pot boiling water, add a pinch of salt for flavor & add pasta. cook according to package directions. drain & set aside.
  • 2 while pasta is cooking, in a large skillet add oil. once oil is hot, add ground beef, onions, garlic & green peppers. cook until ground beef & cooked thoroughly & onions are translucent. drain.
  • 3 add ground beef mixture back into skillet & add tomatoes, tomato paste, water, chicken bouillon cubes, oregano, basil & brown sugar. stir. bring to a boil, stirring occasionally. reduce to med. heat to bring the sauce to a simmer; cover with a lid & stir occasionally for about 10 minutes.
  • 4 on a large platter, place pasta & then top with spaghetti sauce. top with grated parmesan cheese & parsley. serve with a salad & garlic bread.
