Jambalaya - From Pillsbury Carefree Cooking

Total Time: 40 mins Preparation Time: 20 mins Cook Time: 20 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 8
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 medium onion, coarsely chopped
  • 1 medium green pepper, coarsely chopped
  • 1 lb polish sausage, cooked and cut into 1/2 inch slices
  • 1 lb large shrimp, raw, frozen is fine
  • 1 (16 ounce) can tomatoes, chopped and undrained
  • 1 (10 3/4 ounce) can chicken broth
  • 1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste
  • 3/4 cup rice, uncooked
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 bay leaf

Recipe

  • 1 in a large dutch oven, melt the butter and saute the onion just until tender, 3 minutes or so.
  • 2 stir in all remaining ingredients and mix well. bring to a boil and then cover, lower heat and allow to simmer until almost all liquid is absorbed, about 20 minutes. remove the bay leaf and serve.
