Holiday Rice Crispy Toffee Treats

Total Time: 10 mins Preparation Time: 5 mins Cook Time: 5 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 12
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 80 large marshmallows
  • 10 cups crispy rice cereal
  • 1 1/3 cups toffee pieces
  • wooden skewers or craft stick
  • 1/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips, melted (optional)

Recipe

  • 1 place butter in a very large mixing bowl.
  • 2 microwave on high for 1 1/2 minutes or until melted.
  • 3 add marshmallows and stir to coat with butter.
  • 4 microwave on high for 3 minutes, stirring after each minute.
  • 5 stir in cereal and toffee chips until well coated.
  • 6 transfer mixture to a foil-lined and buttered 15 x 10 x 1-inch baking pan with sides.
  • 7 with buttered hands or spatula, press mixture evenly into pan.
  • 8 chill until firm.
  • 9 remove cereal mixture from pan and peel off foil.
  • 10 cut with assorted holiday cookie cutters.
  • 11 insert skewer into each shape.
  • 12 drizzle with melted chocolate, if desired.
  • 13 variation: stir 1/3 cup peanut butter into marshmallow mixture until smooth and creamy.
  • 14 proceed as above.
