Hungarian Goulash

Ingredients

  • Servings: 8
  • 3 lbs boneless beef roast, cut in 1 inch cubes
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1/4 cup oil
  • 3 cups sliced onions
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 (10 ounce) can beef broth
  • 4 quarts water
  • 3 teaspoons salt
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 9 cups wide egg noodles
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon poppy seed
  • 1 cup sour cream

Recipe

  • 1 toss meat with flour to coat.
  • 2 in dutch oven, brown meat in oil until well browned on all sides.
  • 3 add onions, paprika, salt, pepper and beef broth.
  • 4 cover and cook on low for 1-1/2 hours.
  • 5 bring water, salt and oil to a boil; add noodles and cook for 8 minutes.
  • 6 drain and rinse under hot water.
  • 7 toss cooked noodles with butter and poppy seeds.
  • 8 stir sour cream into meat mixture.
  • 9 cook on low until heated through, stirring constantly.
  • 10 serve goulash over noodles.
