Hoisin Barbecue Sauce

Ingredients
- 3/4 cup hoisin sauce
- 3/4 cup rice wine vinegar
- 1 tablespoon fermented black beans
- 1 teaspoon minced fresh garlic clove
- 3/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1 1/4 inches fresh gingerroot, cut into 5 1/4-inch coins
- 2 star anise pods
- 1/2 orange, zest of
Recipe
- 1 in a small saucepan, combine all the ingredients.
- 2 slowly simmer for 15 minutes.
