Dinner Rolls

Total Time: 4 hrs Preparation Time: 3 hrs 30 mins Cook Time: 30 mins

Ingredients

  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons dry yeast
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 tablespoons shortening
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 6 cups all-purpose flour

Recipe

  • 1 add shortening to milk and heat in microwave oven to 115 degrees.
  • 2 pour into bowl and add sugar, eggs, and yeast.
  • 3 mix in first cup flour and salt.
  • 4 keep adding flour while mixing until the dough doesn't stick to your hands but does stick to itself.
  • 5 separate into either 1 pound loaves or smaller rolls.
  • 6 makes 3 loaves or 36 rolls.
  • 7 let raise for about 3 hours in a warm covered place.
  • 8 put into oven at 375 degrees for 15-20 minutes for a roll or 25-30 minutes for a loaf.
  • 9 it will be done when you thump the bottom and it's hollow sounding and it's brown on top.
