Garlicky Yellow Rice

Total Time: 43 mins Preparation Time: 20 mins Cook Time: 23 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 6
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 1/2 cups onions, chopped
  • 1 3/4 cups long-grain rice, uncooked
  • 6 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 3 3/4 cups water
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • green onion (optional)

Recipe

  • 1 heat oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat.
  • 2 add onion, and saute 7 minutes or until tender.
  • 3 add rice and garlic; saute 2 minutes.
  • 4 add water and next 3 ingredients; bring to a boil.
  • 5 cover, reduce heat, and simmer 23 minutes or until liquid is absorbed.
  • 6 garnish with green onion tops, if desired.
